Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 (Windows)

How to Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 (Win | Tethered| Legacy Devices Only)

Step By Step Tutorial:

Note #1: If you have a passcode set on your device, make sure you disable it before following the instructions below.

Note #2: This tutorial will work on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, or iPod 4G. There is no jailbreak available yet (from any company) for iPhone 4S, iPad 3, iPad 2 or iPad 1 for iOS 6..0.1. If you need help at anytime, contact us via email at support@iphonejailbreakplus.com. We are here to help.

Note #3: If your device is currently unlocked, do not use this tutorial as it may cause your phone to lose it’s unlock. We’ll post an update as soon as we have a procedure available that includes an unlock.

Note #4: You should ALWAYS back up your device and data before attempting a restore, jailbreak, or unlock. iPhoneJailbreakPlus.Com is not responsible for any loss of data. Click here for help.

Note #5: These instructions assume that you are using the Firefox browser. Firefox is a very popular browser similar to Internet Explorer, Safari, or Google Chrome.  If you do not already have it installed, you can download it for free here:

Note #6: When you click on each file download link, a window will pop up asking you to confirm the download. Be certain to select “Save File” rather than “Open With”.

Step One:

Create a new folder on your desktop and call it “iPhoneJailbreak”.

Download the iOS 6  AND iOS 6.0.1 IPSW for your device and save them in this folder. Do the same for the jailbreak software. (See below).

iOS 6 IPSW Files:

Click Here to Download iPhone 4 CDMA/Verizon IPSW

Click Here to Download iPhone 3GS IPSW

Click Here to Download iPod Touch 4th Gen IPSW

iOS 6.0.1 IPSW Files:

Click Here to Download iPhone 4 CDMA/Verizon IPSW

Click Here to Download iPhone 3GS IPSW

Click Here to Download iPod Touch 4th Gen IPSW

Click Here to Download the Jailbreak Software

Now, open the “iPhoneJailbreak” folder where you saved those files, and unzip the file that you just downloaded if necessary.

Step Two:

Note: If you are already on iOS 6.0.1, then you may skip to step 3.

Connect your iDevice to your PC using the USB cable that came with your device.

Launch iTunes.

Select your iDevice from the list of devices on the left.

Now, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard and, at the same time, click the Restore button.

iTunes will then prompt you to choose a restore file. Navigate back to the “iPhoneJailbreak” folder on your desktop and click to select the appropriate file ending in Restore.ipsw, which you downloaded previously. Click “Choose” to continue.

iTunes will then spend a few minutes updating your iDevice to the required firmware level.

Step Three:

Once iTunes has finished updating your iDevice, go back to the “iPhoneJailbreak” folder on your desktop and open it. Now, open the Redsn0w folder that you created when you unzipped the Redsn0w.zip file. Within this folder, launch the file called “redsn0w”.

Note: It is highly recommended that you run this application as administrator and (if you’re not already running Windows XP), in XP compatibility mode. Click Here For instructions on how to do this.

Redsn0w_Exe

Step Three:

Redsn0w will load, and you’ll see the following screen. Click the button that says “Extras”.

Step Four:

Click on Select IPSW option and browse for the original iOS 6 (not iOS 6.0.1) file that you saved previously. Once the file has been identified by Redsn0w, hit the Back button to go back to the main screen of Redsn0w.

Hit “jailbreak” and then select “cydia”.

Step Five:

You may be prompted by RedSn0w to enter DFU mode. If that occurs, follow these steps.

Hold down the Power (corner) button.

DFU 1

Now, without releasing the “Power” button, hold down the “Home” button (bottom center) for 9 Seconds.

DFU 2

Release the Power button and continue to hold the Home button until RedSn0w detects the device.

DFU 3

Your iDevice will then reboot.

Reboot

Step Six:

Redsn0w will now recognize the iOS version installed on your iPhone or iPod Touch & process it for jailbreaking. This should be automatic, but if for some reason you are prompted to do so, go ahead and hit “Next”.

Step Seven:

You will now see the following screen. Make sure that the only box checked is for “Install Cydia”. Click “Next”.

Install Cydia

Step Eight:

The following screen will appear. There is nothing to do here but wait until it completes. Then, click “Next”.

Step Nine:

Boot tethered. Even if you just completed the jailbreak, you’ll need to do this step now for the first time (YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO USE CYDIA UNTIL YOU DO). As this is a tethered jailbreak, you’ll also need to do this every time you reboot your device or let it run out of battery power. We’re working hard to find a method for doing this untethered, and will update the member’s area with it as soon as we have it.

Run Redsn0w again. (See Step 3 above) Click the “Extras” button.

Boot Tethered

Select the button that says “Just Boot”.

Just Boot

Then, hit “Next” and allow the phone to boot. If prompted to enter DFU mode, do so (see Step Five). That’s it – you’ve just booted tethered and your jailbreak is ready to go!
